The ‘Figure It Out! EP’ by Public Figures immediately slaps you across the face with explosive energy with every song and refuses to apologize. From the very first second, the band unleashes a wave of those signature DIY-garage-punk hooks so sharp they should probably come with a warning label mixed with that right amount of power-pop gloss just when it’s needed. Though it’s only an EP and is pretty short at 13 minutes, this EP packs in so much great kick ass tunage I just keep coming back for more.
Though the whole EP is solid, I had a couple of tracks that I kept coming back to again and again. First up is the track “Onto Something,” a hyperactive monster featuring a chorus that will have ya singing along and bouncing around your house, apartment, or in the car, and it will stick with you for weeks. Right on its heels is that opening track of the EP “Cut It Out ” which has that fuzzy guitar riffage that will get your head bangin’, proving the band can balance raw grit with polished pop perfection. Come back to me next week, and I’ll probably have another favorite, though, because “Landed In a Trap” is pretty badass as well.
The ‘Figure It Out! EP’ is short, sweet, loud, and packed with more charisma than a late-night infomercial host one gram in. If you are looking for an excuse to jump around your living room and annoy the people in the apartment next door, this record will help you light that fuse. Check this EP out… it fucking rules.
