The self-titled third album by youbet perfectly captures that feeling of being anxious about life but deciding to wear a bright yellow hat anyway. The duo has crafted a wonderfully gnarly record, blending distorted guitar crunch with melodies so sweet they’ll give you a toothache. It’s the kind of music that makes you want to […]

New Sides by Dealbreaker
Dealbreaker’s latest release, New Sides, is a power-packed blast of fuzz-pop and garage punk that feels like being lovingly shoved into a mosh pit by your best friends. It’s loud, it’s snotty, and it has enough energy to power a small midwestern town for a week. Dealbreaker, hailing from Welland, Ontario, proves that you don’t […]
Off The Fence by The James Hunter Six
If you’re looking for a reason to put on your sharpest suit and walk down Kinnickinnic Ave. like you own the place, look no further than ‘Off The Fence’. James Hunter is so effortlessly cool he probably exhales rhythm and blues, and his voice is that right mix of sexy, velvety, gritty, and honeyed soul […]
Sit Down for Rock and Roll by The Foot & Leg Clinic
Glasgow, Scotland’s The Foot & Leg Clinic (Formerly The Wife Guys of Reddit) has finally delivered the prescription we didn’t know we needed with their latest release, ‘Sit Down for Rock and Roll‘. While the band name might suggest a grueling afternoon of orthotics and bunion consultations, the music is anything but clinical. This album […]
The Cost of Living by Somni
On their new album, ‘The Cost of Living‘ , Somni has managed to craft a sound so pillowy and lush that it makes real life feel a bit too high-definition and loud. It’s “lo-fi” in the way a five-star spa is relaxing as fuck, every crackle, hiss, and muffled vocal feels like it was placed there by […]
Mosquito by Hater
Hater has returned with ‘Mosquito‘, and thankfully, it is much more pleasant than its namesake suggests. While an actual mosquito in your room in the middle of the night is a cause for psychological warfare, this Swedish quartet has delivered a collection of tracks that feel more like a cool breeze over a Malmö meadow. […]
Orange by White Fence
Tim Presley has returned with ‘Orange‘, an album that feels like finding a vintage Rickenbacker buried in a time capsule, only to realize it was actually tuned by a space-traveling wizard. Currently out now on Drag City Records, ‘Orange‘ is pure “Shellodic” pop, a term Presley coined that perfectly captures the feeling of a melody […]
EP II by Stabber
Continuing from last year’s first EP, here comes Stabber with ‘EP II’, which is the sonic equivalent of getting a surprise high-five from a skeleton wearing a leather jacket, shocking, high-energy, and surprisingly wholesome in its own chaotic way. Hailing from the chilly streets of Oslo, this crew has managed to bottle the feeling of […]
Diet of Worms by The Shits
The Shits return with ‘Diet of Worms‘, a record that sounds like you’re being joyfully steamrolled by a heavy-duty industrial harvester. Released through Rocket Recordings, this album brings that “disgust and deliverance” that they do oh so well, trading in the kind of grime that makes you want to take a shower and then immediately […]
mop by mop
The self-titled debut from Brooklyn’s own mop is exactly what happens when you decide that “pretending everything is fine” is far too much cardiovascular exercise. Fronted by Laura Jean Anderson, this record is a gloriously mossy descent into the kind of 90s-coded grunge that makes you want to buy a flannel shirt just so you […]
