It feels like my brain is short-circuiting lately because I swear I had already written a review for this kick-ass record, but in speaking with my buddy at the bar this past weekend insisted I hadn’t yet… so here I am, finally giving this project the review it deserves. ‘Scroll If You Love Devil’ by Madison, Wisconsin’s own one-lady punk powerhouse, Heather the Jerk, is a delightfully crunchy, fast-paced sonic assault that rules from start to finish. Released in February 2026, the album is packed with some of the most catchy-ass melodies, bite-sized punk anthems, and an unhinged energy that makes you want to flip your kitchen table over and start dancing like a weirdo with their pants on fire in your living room, or at least that’s what my wife said I look like when I am dancing after six or seven Hamms I guess.
While all the songs on this album are an absolute blast, here are a few songs that stood out to me on my first listen. The opening track, “Get Off My Lawn,” sets a hilariously perfect tone right out of the gate, blending blistering drums with an aggressive, tongue-in-cheek attitude that acts as a beautiful, high-energy wake-up call. Then there is “Bahboozay (Ode to a Cat),” a brilliantly wild tribute that proves you can write a fiercely rad punk song about literally anything, especially our feline overlords. Finally, “Wintertime Blues” slows down the frantic pace just enough to deliver an incredibly catchy, melodic guitar solo courtesy of collaborator Josh, wrapping up the latter half of the record with a wonderfully relatable, heavy-grooving vibe. I also like to say there is one hell of a cover of the song “Hate Your Guts” by the legendary Latino lo-fi garage punk band Loli & The Chones.
Heather the Jerk has delivered a perfect example of how to keep punk music raw, hilarious, and incredibly fun. Between Heather tackling the vocals, drums, and most of the guitar work, the sheer amount of DIY talent dripping from these tracks is nothing short of inspiring. If you haven’t already scrambled to buy the digital album or desperately hunted for one of the sold-out limited-edition cassettes, you are seriously missing out on one of the most refreshing releases of the year. Do your ears a huge favor: stop scrolling, and go blast this record at top volume right now…. this album rules.
