Green World Image‘ by Telehealth is your musical remedy if you’ve been doom-scrolling through social media, wishing your daily dose of “end of the world” was more danceable. Telehealth caught me off-guard and smacked me in the face with this exciting new take on the sterile corporate jargon of our modern, hyper-capitalist world, and they filter it through a brilliantly retro, neon-lit lens. The vibe is aggressively fun, and energy is high, instantly channeling the quirky, high-energy spirits of classic ’80s new wave titans like The B-52s, Devo, and Oingo Boingo, while also tapping into the jagged underground grooves of bands like Bush Tetras. They balance a mildly satirical worldview with incredibly polished, twitchy rhythms that make you want to party while the world is burning up.

The album plays out like a glossy corporate introduction video gone completely off the rails, committing entirely to its concept from the very first track. A major standout is the hilariously biting “Things I’ve Killed,” an absolute riot of a song that tackles the internet’s favorite pastime: blaming millennials for destroying every legacy industry under the sun. Over an intensely danceable, synth-driven groove, they rattle off a laundry list of modern grievances with the shouted lyrics: “Baseball, Golf course, Mayonnaise, Credit score!” Meanwhile, the frantic, funky beat of “Donor Country (A gOoD cAuSe)” brilliantly skewers conscious consumerism and gentrification, delivering sharp imagery by pairing the lines: “Calling the cops, Artisanal hops.”

The financial fun and cultural mockery don’t stop there, as the band continues to examine our collective modern malaise on the exceptionally witty “Silver Spoon.” It’s a track drenched in sarcasm that perfectly captures the modern economic struggle, featuring the highly relatable, tongue-in-cheek pronouncement: “I cannot afford, Death and taxes anymore.” Combined with other stellar jams like “Cost of Inaction” and the venomously catchy parody of online speech on “Villain Era,” Telehealth manages to walk the very fine line between effective sarcasm and total irony. ‘Green World Image‘ is a delightfully weird, positive, and dangerous-to-ignore piece of dance-punk craftsmanship that will leave you smiling, grooving, and ready to dance as the world is crumbling to the ground around us. This album rules!! Be sure to check it out today!!
